GrandStay Criterium Bike Race
Sunday, June 27th (8:30 AM)
The GrandStay Criterium was fortunate to receive the distinction as being the State
Championship race this year. The race will take place near Lake George around Tech High School.
Last year's race attracted over one thousand spectators and 200 racers from around the region
and state. After the success of last year, we anticipate to have even better numbers this year
and look forward to another successful race.
The GrandStay Criterium begins at 8:30 A.M. The finale race will take place at 3:30 - this
will be the best race!
A Kid's Race will begin at noon. The kid's race is free to all children, but they need to
bring their own bike, tricycle, etc. Every child will receive a medal for participating.
Come check it out...there will be lots of food and bounce inflatables by Lake George for
the kids to play in.
What is a Criterium? They say it is the bicycling equivalent of the Indy 500. The race
course is a closed circuit track around the Tech High School/Lake George Area. Racers complete
a lap a minute, traveling at speeds exceeding 30 mph. Race fans will line the streets around
the course for the nine different category races. The race headquarters and the start/finish
line are located on 12th Avenue South between Tech High School (Door 6) and Lake George.
